Celebrating my one-year authorversary

In January 2024, I told the universe – and anyone who would listen – that I was embarking on a journey to become a children’s book author. In hindsight, having the courage to articulate my dream – outload – was the “easy” part. And then the learning curve kicked in – that steep, winding, confusing, frustrating, and often overwhelming pathway toward holding a finished book in my hand.

There have been decisions about writing, editing, illustrating, publishing, printing, marketing, pricing, and a whole lot more. Along the way, I have received advice, suggestions, tips, recommendations, and encouragement – all of which I am immensely grateful for. During all the stages of progress, I have shared my work with friends and family. I’ve received positive feedback and welcomed critiques that helped me improve my work. I’ve made mistakes and learned from them.

Would I do it all again? Absolutely! Because despite the fleeting moments of trepidation, there were far more moments of sheer exhilaration! And now, a full year later, I have held my first book in my hand – it’s as surreal as you might think. And more satisfying as I dared to imagine!

Now that I have boldly begun GiGi Tales journey, there really is NO turning back. It’s way too much fun!

Happy Authorversary to me!
